Back sprains and strains are experienced by approximately three out of four adults. Sprains are caused when ligaments—the tough bands of tissue that hold bones together—become overstretched or torn. Strains involve a muscle and/or a tendon. Either one can occur when you lift too much weight, play a strenuous sport, or even bend or twist improperly during regular activities during the day. The pain may be aching, burning, stabbing, tingling, sharp, or dull.
Lower back pain is one of the most common reasons why people consult with a chiropractor. Low back pain, usually brought on by a stress or strain to the joints in the lumbar or pelvis region, is caused by sudden movements or poor body mechanics while lifting heavy objects.
Headaches, broadly defined as a continuous pain in the head, are one of the most common conditions to effect our brains with 1 in 20 adults experiencing a headache nearly every day. Whether it expresses itself as a classic ache, or effects other parts of your body, it’s a familiar pain that can happen to anyone at any time.
Migraines, on the other hand, are different. They’re recurrent and typically affect one side of the head. They’re often accompanied by nausea and disturbed vision. Unlike the average headache, a migraine has the intensity to put a person out for one or several days.
Cervicogenic headaches are caused by referred neck pain. The pain from this type of headache is usually felt at the back of the head, in the temples, and/or behind the eyes. A cervicogenic headache may be mistaken for migraines or cluster headaches.
Although chiropractic treatment for headaches and migraines may not be your first instinct when considering options, Chiro2me chiropractors can help you find the cause of your symptoms and alleviate your pain.
Myofascial pain is a chronic pain disorder where pressure on sensitive points in your muscles—called trigger points—can cause deep, aching pain in seemingly unrelated parts of your body. This is known as referred pain. Sometimes myofascial pain feels like a “knot” in your muscle, and occurs after a muscle is used repeated.
SPORTS & A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE
A popular way to maintain your health is to exercise by participating in sports. Exercise is very good for your overall health. It can reduce stress and even strengthen your joints, bones, and heart. However, it is an unfortunate fact that injuries can occur while partaking in these activities. Whether you've become overzealous with your routine or simply forget to use the proper safety equipment, it's very common to become injured while doing these simple activities.
SPORTS RELATED INJURIES
The most common sports injuries are strains, sprains, tendinosis, and stress fractures. When a person accidentally twists or overextends a joint, the muscles and tendons can tear. Overextending these muscles can cause a strain. If the ligament tears, it can result in a sprain. Tendinosis (overuse syndrome) happens when certain joints in the body are overused. When these parts become overworked, pain and dysfunction are the results. With the tendons being used repeatedly, they become inflamed from the repetitious activities. Tennis Elbow and Golfer's Elbow are great examples of tendinosis. Stress fractures are another injury commonly seen related to sports injuries. Stress fractures are also known as Fatigue Fractures. These fractures happen when there is a large, abnormal amount of weight being placed on a bone. It is extremely common with beginner runners who start off at a higher level than advised.
KNEE PAIN IN YOUNG ATHLETES
The most common cause of knee pain in young athletes is patellofemoral pain syndrome, which is a broad term for anterior knee pain surrounding the patella (the kneecap). The pain is typically due to overuse, so parent’s should be aware of the signs and symptoms if their children are athletes.
When the knee pain is isolated to the area just under the kneecap, it’s likely Osgood Schlatters Disease. When the patella forms in infancy, it attaches to the tibia through the patellar tendon. During the growth spurts of puberty, childrens’ muscle growth often fails to keep up with the growth of the bones. The patellar tendon begins to pull away from the knee, causing pain.
SHOULDER INJURIES
The shoulder is a ball-and-socket joint that’s connected to the body through muscle. So the underlying causes of shoulder pain most frequently have to do with either the joint itself, or the muscles, tendons and ligaments that support the joint. Because of the range of motion required for effective play, football players, baseball and softball players, and swimmers tend to get shoulder pain at some point in their athletic careers. Chiro2me chiropractors can help athletes maintain or enhance their range of motion, so they can perform at their best.
ELBOW INJURIES
Are you experiencing pain on the outside portion of the elbow? Perhaps twisting the cap off a bottle is painful, or the muscle in your forearm feels tight and tense. It could be tennis elbow. And, no, you don’t have to be a tennis player to develop tennis elbow.
Tennis elbow is irritation or inflammation of the connective tissues between the forearm and the elbow. A variation of tennis elbow is golfer’s elbow, which oppositely effects the inside portion of the elbow. These conditions develop through the repetitive motion of certain sports, but can also effect non-athletes whose occupations involve simply holding things with a tight grip for long periods of time.
HIP INJURIES
A sharp pain in the front of the hip (groin) is a tell-tale sign of a hip flexor strain. This pain, along with decreased or limited range of motion, and tenderness, swelling, or bruising near the groin, are also indicative of the issue. During running, biking or repetitive leg exercises, the hips may swing forward in overextension. This can cause that sharp pain in the front of the hip.
WRIST INJURIES
Wrist pain often tightens your wrist and hand to the point where it cannot open. Chiropractic care heals damaged soft tissue so inflammation decreases and you can begin to feel better. With better circulation in your hand and wrist, swelling in your ligaments is eliminated.
SHIN SPLINTS
When we put stress on our shins, as we do during running or exercise, the connective tissues that attach our leg muscles to our tibia can get inflamed. This inflammation is caused by tiny fractures in the muscles, tendons and bones of the shin. This pain is called “shin splints,” and although it usually goes away within a few days, it’s important to monitor to ensure that it doesn’t progress into a stress fracture.
ANKLE SPRAINS/STRAINS
Rolling, twisting, or turning the ankle in an awkward way can often result in a sprained ankle. The most common way that patients sprain their ankles is when the foot inverts, or turns inward, and then the ankle externally rotates, or turns outward. This opposing movement of the foot and ankle cause stretching or tearing in the tissues and ligaments that hold the ankle bones together. Most sprains are not serious with fewer than 5% of sprains requiring surgery. But it’s important for athletes to be aware of the symptoms of sprained ankles, what types of movements cause them, and what to do if they experience a sprain.
PATELLAR TENDONITIS
Patellar tendinitis is an injury to the tendon connecting your kneecap (patella) to your shinbone. The patellar tendon works with the muscles at the front of your thigh to extend your knee so that you can kick, run and jump. Pain is the first symptom of patellar tendinitis, usually between your kneecap and where the tendon attaches to your shinbone (tibia).

Chiropractic is a preferred treatment method for many patients with bulging and herniated discs because it is non-invasive and does not involve drugs or injections. Once you have your diagnosis, you and your chiropractor can work together to find the best way to treat your condition.
Do you have pain down your leg, or you know someone that has? There may be a herniated disc as the cause. Make sure they (or you) are checked at this office as soon as possible.
Here’s Why
A herniated disk refers to a problem with one of the rubbery cushions (disks) between the individual bones (vertebrae) that stack up to make your spine.
A spinal disk is a little like a jelly doughnut, with a softer center encased within a tougher exterior.
Sometimes called a slipped disk or a ruptured disk, a herniated disk occurs when some of the softer “jelly” pushes out through a crack in the tougher exterior like you see above where it says…“Compressed Nerve.”
A herniated disk can irritate nearby nerves or even the spinal cord itself and result in pain, numbness or weakness in an arm or leg. If it progresses too far, say by ignoring the problem, surgery may be the only solution.
FACT: Most people who have a herniated disk don’t need surgery to correct the problem. If you have not been checked for a herniated disk, let the us know. We can do an examination that may confirm whether you have a herniated disk or you most likely have healthy disks.
Piriformis syndrome may occur when the piriformis muscle (a narrow muscle located in the buttocks) compresses or irritates the sciatic nerve. Symptoms may be called sciatica and may include pain and/or sensations (tingling, numbness) that travel down through the buttock(s) and into one or both legs.
You know this feeling, where it looks as if the world is spinning around you. Ever had that feeling? Not spinning around you in the light of being overloaded, career pressure, family obligations or the day to day pressure which we all go through and may affect our well-being. Your head is spinning and you are neither sick nor nursing a hangover. You feel that there is no reason for this.
This experience happens to people a lot more often than you would think. It may cause people to be scared and afraid. There's need to educate patients suffering from vertigo; and to calm them when they are wondering when it will pass or if the spinning shall pass at all. This condition is not imaginary, it is very real. It is called vertigo.
Spinning Circles
Vertigo is a general medical term which describes a condition in which a person feels dizzy and loses balance and feels as though things are moving/spinning around him/ her. In the real sense, these things are not moving. This feeling is often explained as spinning. It is like that which you feel after a merry go round and you didn't get over the feeling you got from the ride immediately you get on land. Or that unnerving feeling which you get after being on sea and after you get on land you still feel the flow of the water.
Vertigo normally comes with: feelings of nausea, vomiting, sweating and sometimes finding a hard time walking. It can be too challenging and almost impossible to run your day to day activities. The above symptoms can make the person feel so weak.
Causes
Vertigo has a number of causes. Some of this causes may be very serious medical conditions. But it is mostly caused by mild issues which are centered on the inner ear. The inner ear is also called the vestibular system and controls your body's balance and your spatial orientation.
Inner ear problem called benign paroxysmal positional vertigo is mostly a result of tiny objects moving around your inner ear when you change position. With this movement, you get the spinning feeling, vomiting etc.
Vertigo is normally accompanied by Meniere's disease which is the ringing of ears, hearing loss. You might feel your ear canal is blocked or fluid-filled. The reason for this could be genetic or external environment factors though it has not been proved.
Labrynthitis, ear infection, is another top cause of vertigo. Labrynthitis indicates an inflammation in the inner ear. Vertigo is a symptom of this condition.
Vertigo and Chiropractic
The big question is if chiropractic care, can help a patient with vertigo. To answer your question, yes. Two primary techniques are involved in aiding the body to heal so that the patient can regain his or her sense of balance.
The primary tool is chiropractic adjustment. Chiropractic adjustment allows your nervous system to function at its level best. Your nervous system controls all the information sent to your brain and forth. The spine covers the nervous system. By adjusting it, communication between the brain and the body is enhanced; including the ear, lymph and the immune system. Chiropractic care is particularly useful when vertigo is being caused by an ear infection. The patient in turn, heals faster.
The Epley maneuver is another tool used to relieve vertigo. This is a re-positioning technique. This procedure is simple and quick. It is done at a chiropractic office. This procedure is done to enable the ear and its components to return to the state it is supposed to be.
These tools: chiropractic adjustment and the Epley maneuver are non-invasive and doesn't involve cutting into the body. They aid the body into recovering on its own.
If you are suffering from vertigo, or anyone you know is, we want to help you recover. Chiro2me chiropractors are successful with treating vertigo. It could bring you to your best self, enable you to live the life you desire.
Pain or numbness that radiates through your body or down an arm or leg may be due to compressed nerves in your back. Chiropractic care can help to alleviate spinal imbalance and relieve pain.
Sciatica may occur when the sciatic nerve or a branch of the sciatic nerve is compressed or becomes irritated. The hallmark of sciatica is moderate to severe pain that travels below the knee of one leg. Some people with sciatica describe the pain as sharp, shooting, or similar to an electric-shock.
